Trail Race Event planned for June 17th

This summer, an exciting new event is coming to the community. On June 17, 2023, a trail race event will be held in Columbus, sponsored by kwELITE. Last year, a mini 5k/10k run was held to test the waters for a larger event, and over 110 people participated. With positive feedback from participants and requests for a repeat this year, kwELITE reached out to a national race director and received approval to host an official event in Columbus.

Renee Mueller, CEO of kwELITE and one of the event organizers, said, “We want it to be bigger and better with the beautiful trails we have. Our goal is to bring in over 750 people for a fun weekend of beer, bagels, competitions, and great music, all while they get to explore what Columbus and Platte County has to offer!”

The race event was arranged to coincide with a concert being held on June 17, and organizers plan to work together with the concert planners to draw more people in to Columbus to enjoy a weekend getaway. “We believe hosting on the same day as the concert in Columbus will draw more support for both events, and this gives those who attend from elsewhere a chance to see what trails and eateries Columbus has to offer,” said Mueller. With the race and concert falling on the same day, there will be live entertainment, medal ceremonies, great food, and lots of fun for families.

kwELITE also received a promotion grant from the Columbus Area Convention and Visitors Bureau! This grant will assist us in promoting the event, as well as bring visitors to our incredible community!

Proceeds from the event will be donated to a local nonprofit benefiting the Columbus community. Mark your calendars to save the date for the event. More information will be posted on the kwELITE Facebook page soon, including signups for the race, so follow the page to stay up to date on further details.
